Shaving Cream Landforms

We are learning about landforms in Social Studies. We used shaving cream today to represent our landforms! 

Magnets!

We are investigating the properties of matter and magnetism this week! We learned opposite poles attract, and same poles repel. 

Class Visitor

Today was a very exciting day because Mrs. Felder, a former Rochell 2nd grade teacher came to visit us! She had a lot of my students in her class last year! She read us two funny stories! We had so much  fun visiting with Mrs. Felder! 

My Very Own Room

We have been learning about 3D shapes and measurement in math. We decided to bring in some real world application. The students were challenged to create their very own room using mathematical skills. They used area to measure their carpet, wallpaper, 3D shapes to create their furniture. They recorded their work and reflections in a mini book with guiding questions. They turned out awesome!!

3D shapes!

We have been learning all about 3D shapes! We created 3D shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows. The students had to record the attributes on a notecard (shape name, # of vertices, # of edges, # of bases). We had fun!
