Mining for chocolate chips! Natural resources

We had so much fun "mining for chocolate chips" today in science. We have been learning about natural resources, so today we were mining for "coal."

Science Fun!

Our 3rd grade kiddos love science club! Science club is filled with hands-on experiments that the kids absolutely love! The pictures below are from a soil and parts of a seed lesson. The students were to represent parts of a flower using different materials. They read a description card about the parts of a flower and had to choose an item to represent that part. Then, they were to put a flower together representing all parts with their teammates.

IPAD LOVE!

We are LOVING our IPAD cart in 3rd grade! My class is so excited about playing on the IPADS. I had to share the fun we had on Monday... We are learning how to use "thinking blocks" in math when adding or subtracting. I introduced the concept with the "Math Playground Thinking Blocks" website. Then we practiced on the IPADS using the "banana math" application. Banana Math is an application with word problems. This APP is FREE! Check out the pictures below... We had lots of fun practicing our thinking blocks on the IPADS! 

I am so excited to welcome my new third grade friends! I have been working extra hard to make sure my class loves their third grade home! Here is a sneak peak of our classroom!
