Monkey Bag!

How do you build classroom community?

We have a monkey that lives in a "monkey bag!" At the beginning of the school year we vote as a class to name our monkey. Last year he was named "Mr. Monkey." How original...haha! Mr. Monkey goes home with a student every Monday and Friday in the monkey bag with the class monkey journal. The student journals about the fun they had with Mr. Monkey. The student comes back to school with Mr. Monkey and shares the adventures with the class. The students think it is hilarious to hear what kind of trouble Mr. Monkey can get into. Last year he lost an eye and even went for a ride in the washing machine! Mr. Monkey is a trooper! Find your Mr. Monkey on Amazon.com HERE!

Here is Mr. Monkey hanging out with us in Room 29!

"Have you filled a bucket today?"

So, have you filled a bucket today? Let's encourage students to show positive behavior and show kindness to one another. Teach our students that when they fill a bucket, they are filling their bucket too!

Check out the bucket filler website HERE

Want bucket fillers in your classroom? Here's a cheap and easy way to get started.
-Lowe's peg board (have it cut the size you want).
-Spray paint the board a fun color!
-Mini bucket pales (find at Target in the $1 section or Dollar Tree).
-Label the buckets with white sticky tabs.

I use bucket filler forms from the "Myfunteacher" blog. Find them HERE!
